How it all started

Extract from the building inventory of the Canton of Bern:

Farmhouse, built probably around 1800

A massive, largely post-and-beam structure on a high basement base that compensates for the slope. The rounded roof, which defines the overall form, covers a façade that is typically understated and indicative of new stylistic trends: the

rhythmically placed wall openings, despite the continuous, strong cornice, point the way to individual windows.

Wood decor is applied only in specific places. Good double front doors; pointed-arch cellar entrances. A large kitchen garden enclosed by a quarry stone wall precedes it.

This self-assured building stands as a dominant feature of the townscape in the eastern part of the hamlet, perched on the slope and dominates the spacious green area facing downhill.
